Marilyn Horwath
"Enjoy the Journey", is the motto Marilyn tries to live by at work and at home. Having owned and operated several businesses, Marilyn has learned to be flexible and work every aspect of a business in order to make it succeed. After earning a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Maryland School of Nursing, Marilyn was given the opportunity to run a partnership at Howard County General Hospital, integrating marketing, patient care and education for a high risk pregnancy program for women.
With a passion for food and service Marilyn soon opened "Basso's Cafe", a specialty coffee shop, serving homemade soups and fresh Italian sandwiches. As the business grew Marilyn was able to expand her business into catering, serving small and large functions. When Marilyn was approached with an opportunity to buy and run a fresh fruit smoothie stand she didn't hesitate. Within 2 years she was able to expand the company from one stand to four, while managing every aspect of the business.
Marilyn's last business venture took her back to her nursing roots. With the field of medical aesthetics growing, Marilyn opened a mobile med spa, providing medical aesthetics to patients at physician offices, beauty salons or their homes, making it more convenient for men and women to turn back the hands of time in a location that is convenient for them.
For the past year Marilyn has managed the Human Resources Department at Sales Focus, being a part of the company's growth as it doubled in size. As Sales Focus continues to grow Marilyn is excited to embrace a new challenge, as she moves into the PR and Marketing role for Sales Focus.
In her personal life Marilyn is passionate about travel, cooking and spending time with her husband and 3 children. She takes joy in giving back to her community and is involved with Rotary International and has organized charity events for The American Cancer Society, The Invisible Children and Grandmothers Beyond Borders. She has been involved with The Willis McGhee Foundation, Grassroots, The Helping Up Mission, My Sisters Circle and The Interact Club.
Being the mother and wife in a very competitive family, tackling challenges comes easy. Where most people run from change, Marilyn thrives on it. Throw a task her way and she will find a way to handle it.
